BOLD Dualities will be Belgium is Design's biggest showcase ever during Milan Design Week.

30 Belgian design studios will present their design objects in the new, spectacular location of Baranzate Ateliers, the project of Zaventem Ateliers in Milan.

Belgium is Design, the partnership between Flanders DC, MAD Brussels and Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode (WBDM), will present 30 design studios in Milan during the annual highlight for furniture and interior design, Milan Design Week. The 30 designers will exhibit together in a new location: a monumental industrial building from the 1950's of 7,300 m2 on Via Gaudenzio Fantoli.

BOLD Dualities

Under the title BOLD Dualities, the curators of Baroness O. are bringing together talent from Belgium in a scenography by Karel Burssens. As the title indicates, it has become a bold and idiosyncratic selection. With a lot of promising new voices alongside established names.

Belgian designers often adopt a modest and adaptive attitude. The presentation BOLD Dualities demonstrates how our designers adapt to the ambiguous identity of our country, how they navigate complex situations and how they connect to the environment in which they live. But most importantly, how this translates into their designs. How they stimulate and question the design industry. How they continue to push standards within existing boundaries. And how they don't shy away from challenges. That attitude sets them apart from similar international profiles, allowing them to focus on an idiosyncratic way of designing. That is what makes Belgian design unique.

The Belgian Design Map

Every year, more than a hundred Belgian labels and designers present their new products during Milan Design Week. The Belgian Design Map gives an overview of this, both of brands at the Salone del Mobile.Milano and of labels in the city (Fuorisalone). Baranzate Ateliers

This year, Belgium is Design will be part of the project by Zaventem Ateliers in Milan. Baranzate Ateliers is returning to Milan for a long-awaited second edition, which will be even bigger and more ambitious than the first edition launched with great acclaim from press and public during Milan Design Week 2022. In its new location in a monumental industrial building complex, the program will bring together collectible design, art and performances and will once again be an unmissable highlight of design week.

Baroness O.

The exhibition is curated by Baroness O., a creative studio founded in 2011 in Brussels and led by Anne Van Assche and Kim Vandeloo. Baroness O. focuses on curation, scenography, organization, art direction and design at the intersection of art and design. They consistently strive to highlight the story behind a design in a coherent way.
