Design platform FOR THE NOW showcases diversity in our design sector with its biggest edition yet.
On November 16 and 17, the Maison de la Poste at Tour & Taxis Brussels is the place to be for design professionals and enthusiasts. FOR THE NOW will showcase a curated selection of emerging and more established Belgium-based designers across a variety of disciplines. Alongside the design exhibition, the event will feature inspiring talks and performances, making it a must-attend for anyone passionate about design.
Unique design showcase
With this 6th edition, FOR THE NOW (formerly known as Contemporary Design Market) reaches new horizons as a design platform. With 44 design projects showcasing, 3 binôme duo's collaborating and the Designer of the Year, visitors will be able to discover some of the most interesting initiatives our design scene has to offer today.
For the selection of the participants, FOR THE NOW specifically reached out to designers and creatives from all walks of life and a wide variety of backgrounds and identities. Thus FOR THE NOW wants to contribute to a more inclusive design world, making this event a truly unique opportunity to discover fresh designs and meet design talents from all backgrounds.

Presenting the new binôme duo's
With the binôme projects FOR THE NOW encourages experimentation and exchange between designers and creatives with different identities or backgrounds. The creative outcome of these collaborations challenge the conventional notions of design and will be showcased exclusively at FOR THE NOW. This year the platform brings together three duo's: illustrator and visual artist Eva Lynen & Vanessa Yuan, the product designer and co-founder of circular design brand ecoBirdy, product designer Nina Van Herck & artist-writer Josefien Cornette, and artist Octave Vandeweghe & Morevi, the Georgian-Belgian textile design duo.

Designer of the Year
The Designer of the Year is the prestigious award initiated by Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend in 2006. Since 2023 Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend partner with FOR THE NOW to present the Designer of the Year at the event. This collaboration stems from a shared commitment of providing a platform for Belgian design talent.
On Saturday 16 November at 16h FOR THE NOW invites visitors to join them in celebrating the new Designer of the Year.
On the menu: an inspiring talk with the Designer of the Year, a festive drink where people can meet with the designer, and the chance to discover some key works that will be exhibited.
The winner of the Designer of the Year 2024 title will be disclosed shortly.
Talks and perfomances
FOR THE NOW is a design platform where exchange is core. Exchange between designers, cultures, visual languages and frames of reference. As a platform actively stimulating more diversity in the design sector, the organisation is proud to present an inspiring (and free) panel talk 'FROM UNSEEN TO UNSTOPPABLE: Breaking Barriers and Building Influence in the Design Space' on Saturday 16 November between 18h and 19h. For pros & enthusiasts seeking actionable inspiration for building a meaningful, resilient career in design.
How do designers overcome disparities, build momentum and create lasting impact? What strategies help them push boundaries while staying true to their core beliefs?
In this panel, special guests Farida Sedoc (NL | multi-disciplinary artist), Nabil Aniss (BE | moving images artist), Yoon Shun (BE | sculptor & designer) and Alex Akuete (BE | multi-disciplinary artist and community builder) will share their journeys and insights on getting through challenges and biases in the design industry. Hosted by Dominique Nzeyimana (BE | journalist, co-founder KNOTORYUS & The Most podcast).
On Saturday evening ToolBox and Joffrey Anane will be present for a showcase performance of their album Nonchalant Man, blending HipHop with UK garage, breakbeat, house and dub.
Brussels based iNess, resident DJ for BRUZZ radio, will play between 16 and 22h, blending music from Fem R&B and HipHop, Afro & Arab, to Soultronic, funk and house.
