Here are the nominees for the Belgian Fashion Awards 2024!

Every year the Belgian Fashion Awards celebrate the creativity and expertise in the Belgian fashion industry. Today the nominees have been selected and we know who has a chance to win one of the prestigious awards on 28 November!

The Belgian Fashion Awards have been organised since 2017 by the three industry organisations in Belgium, namely Flanders DC, MAD Brussels and Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode (WBDM), together with the magazines Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend. The awards aim to highlight the creativity and diversity in Belgian fashion, both nationally and internationally. ​
The award ceremony will take place on Thursday 28 November at MAD Brussels.

And the nominees are...

  1. Designer of the Year: ​
    This award is given to a Belgian fashion designer or a designer working for a Belgian fashion label, whose work in his or her own name or for a fashion house has made an impression over the past 12 months. ​
    The nominees are: Pieter Mulier, Meryll Rogge, Marina Yee, Ester Manas and Jean-Paul Knott.
  2. Accessory Designer of the Year: ​
    This award is given to a Belgian fashion designer or a designer working for a Belgian fashion label, whose work in accessories, in their own name or for a fashion house has made an impression over the past 12 months. ​
    The nominees are: Stephanie D'heygere, Mats Rombaut, Sofie Nieuwborg, Marie Artamonoff and Moutton colleT (Matthieu Mouton & Nicolas Collet).
  3. Emerging Talent of the Year: ​
    This award is given to a young Belgian fashion designer or starting Belgian fashion label with an exceptionally strong concept or great creativity. ​
    The nominees are: Julie Kegels, Gille Peeters (Fragille), Marie Adam-Leenaerdt, Eunji Oh and Romain Bichot.
  4. Professional of the Year: ​
    This award goes to a Belgian fashion professional (not a designer) who has distinguished himself or herself in the past 12 months. ​
    The nominees are: Baloji, Christophe Coppens, Aya Noël, Ruth Van Soom & Dries Vriesacker (ENFNTS TERRIBLE Magazine) and Daniel Henry.
  5. Changemaker of the Year: ​
    This award is presented to a committed designer, professional or entrepreneur in the Belgian fashion industry who has made a remarkable contribution to positive change in the past 12 months, for example in the areas of sustainability, inclusiveness or innovation. ​
    The nominees are: Tim Van Steenbergen & Ruth Goossens (REantwerp), Morgane Gielen, Niki De Schryver (COSH!), Flora Miranda and Jordy Arthur.
  6. Most Promising Graduate of the Year: ​
    This award is given to a promising alumnus of a Belgian fashion school who graduated in June of the previous academic year. ​
    The nominees are: Pommie Dierick (Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp), Célestin Verheyden (La Cambre Brussels), Nanook Cools (SASK Sint-Niklaas), Julien Houdremont (HEFF Brussels), Jessica Francesca Van Winckel (KASK Ghent), ​ Leo Jennes (HELMo Mode Liège) and Tatiana BIFOURI (Chateau Massart Liège).
  7. The Jury Prize: ​
    This award is given to a Belgian fashion designer or a designer working for a Belgian fashion label, whose work in his or her own name or for a fashion house has particularly appealed to the international jury. The award honours the designer's career. The winner will be announced on 28 November.
  8. Fashion Brand of the Year
    The winner of this category lies in the hands of the public. The public will have the chance to cast their vote by selecting a name from a shortlist of 10 Belgian fashion brands and will so determine the final winner of this category. Voting can be done on the website www.belgianfashionawards.be from 8 October.

 

International jury

For the first time in the history of the Belgian Fashion Awards, the international jury has a dual president, namely Li Edelkoort (Trend Forecaster & Curator) and Philip Fimmano (Trend Analyst and Consultant). ​

The other jury members are: Serge Carreira (Directeur Initiative Marques Emergentes at Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, Paris), Sarah Levy (Designer & Accessory Designer of the Year 2023), Martina Zerneri (Communications specialist & brand image manager), Daniel Rodgers (Fashion Writer for British Vogue), Alexander Fury (Fashion Director at Another Magazine & Menswear Critic at Financial Times), Lena-Sophie Röper (General Manager Designer & Luxury at Zalando), Elodie Ouedraogo (Fashion Director at ELLE België/ Belgique & Co-Founder UNRUN), Raïssa Verhaeghe (Founder & CEO at RAVER agency), Elisa Dewyngaert (Curator at MoMu/ Fashion Museum Antwerp), Eve Demoen (Curator at Fashion Museum Hasselt), Nicolas Lor (Curator at Fashion and Lace Museum Brussels) and Marie-Hélène Vanderborght (Journalist & Editor C’est du Belge at RTBF). ​ ​
